I did it! One month to RHCE!

Posted by synseadmin

I've neglected my blog postings for the past couple of weeks because I fortunately and unexpectedly picked up some training engagements that took a lot of time during the month.

In any case, I successfully completed my RHCE exam on September 2 in Dallas, Texas. This came after one week of self-study using Michael Jang's book and then the RH254/5 class in Dallas the week of the exam.

If one has the resources, I highly recommend the RedHat official training. As you look at the RedHat exam objectives, it says vague things like "Configure the service for basic operation". What exactly constitutes "basic opereation"? That may be difficult to decipher. So, in my opinion, there are two options:

1) Study something like Michael Jang's book and learn the details and background of all of the targeted services.

2) Take the RedHat training, and through the instruction and lab experience, observe the level of detail covered in the class. I personally made an assumption that I would not be later surprised by anything that wasn't covered in class.

So . . . check me out! My Cert History

Anyway, you might wonder why it seems I suddenly decided to get an RHCE in one month . . . I'll detail that in an upcoming blog post.
